My Grandfather's Grand Piano and A Jouney of Songs

The production was very good and experimental. It was in a small theatre room with a small audience- all adults apart from myself-waiting for the performance to start.
The lights dim, all the atension is focused on the stage a woman walks in, she is dressed as though it is a warm summer's day and she is just pottering about the house. Her feet are bare, her hair is a light brown colour and loose. On stage is a picture of a boat and in the water sinking horses and a person. I wonder what it means. Next to the picture is a plastic sword, a pirate eyepatch and a bandana. There is a string of fairy lights, mum wonders whether they will turn on soon. On the other side of the stage there is a cello on its side, with some other musical equipment and intruments. Two projection screens hang from the ceiling. One shows her grandfather playing the piano. Chloe-the woman-starts off by speaking quietly and is slightly drowned by the piano music.Thankfully she speaks louder after about half a minute. The script is witty and interesting. She tells about her holidays with her grandparents as though she is not    remembering a script but telling it to you, she adds gaps of thought and sometimes stutters which makes it all more believable. She starts with talking about revisiting the places she knew so well as a child. A place you could easily pass by.
Chloe recalls a conversation with her mother about how they must get rid of the piano as it is taking up too much room. She objects but her mother says that she can't even play it! Chloe herself knows this. There are funny remarks and she continues to describe her grandfather and the time spent with him.
There is an inteval...
We come back to our seats and wait. A film starts on the big screen and it is Chloe singing and playing the chelo. All the music is conposed by herself and each is different and original. They are folky with unusual and intersting vidioes on the oppersite screeen for each piece.
In, "Litttle Red Shoes", she uses uses paint on her feet to depict 'shoes' and there is a film of a busy main street at night. Chloe uses visual art and paint to dipict the scene. In one of the songs there are even shadow pupets to tell the story.
The only downside was the ending of performance was rather lacking and ended flat, leaving the audiance to guess whether or not it had finished. I  think she could of at least come onto the stage and bowed. Even a "Thank you For coming". Just something to wrap it up!
